In the run-up to its full launch, the BBRS has hosted several events to address how the BBRS will work and to answer any questions from interested stakeholders.

BBRS Stormont Pre-launch Parliamentary Briefing Event

On 15th December 2020, the BBRS hosted a short briefing event in partnership with the APG on Fair Banking & Finance in Stormont. The event was designed to give MLAs and their staff an overview of the service to enable them to recommend it to relevant constituents. To comply with covid-19 restrictions it was a virtually hosted panel event.

BBRS Westminster Pre-launch Parliamentary Briefing Event

On 1st December 2020, the BBRS hosted a short briefing event targeted at Parliamentarians. The event provided MPs and their staff with a comprehensive overview of the BBRS and how it will work, to enable them to recommend it to relevant constituents when the service goes live.

SME Roundtable 

On 18 November 2020, the BBRS hosted and moderated an SME Roundtable to which all SMEs and SME Groups were invited to attend, to make presentations and to ask questions.

The following experts joined the Roundtable and provided presentations:

  • Ian Lightbody, Chairman of the Virgin Money Remediation Support Group and advisor to SME Alliance
  • Abhishek Sachdev, CEO of Vedanta Hedging Limited

The BBRS received a wide variety of pre-submitted and live questions from SMEs, many of which were answered in the event and can be found in the transcript. However, the majority of questions related to individual cases. Anyone who submitted a question relating to a case or containing personal information will be contacted by a member of the BBRS team.

Webinar Series 

To replace a roadshow that had been planned but cancelled in light of the covid-19 pandemic, the BBRS launched a virtual information programme consisting of three webinars.

The virtual events took place in May and June 2020 and introduced the BBRS and its team to businesses and stakeholders. It also provided an opportunity for those with an interest in the service to hear about the aims of the organisation, progress to date, and the BBRS’ approach to resolving disputes.
