The Business Banking Resolution Service (BBRS) is an independent, not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and incorporated in England and Wales with registered number 12096333. Following the completion of all casework, the BBRS Contemporary Scheme is now closed.

The BBRS was established to provide an industry-funded independent service to resolve eligible disputes between SMEs and participating banks, with a view to delivering fair, reasonable and independent outcomes and without the need for litigation or external legal support.

The BBRS is governed by an independent Board, with relevant industry experience and knowledge of the broader stakeholder community.

The BBRS was funded by the participating banks and independently operated, managed and governed.

The BBRS’ Contemporary Scheme closed to new registrations at midnight on 13th December 2024. Since then, the casework team have been working to complete all cases registered before this date. Now that all cases have been resolved, the BBRS Contemporary Scheme has closed. However, the BBRS, as a company, will remain open to allow the organisation to finalise activities before closure of the BBRS.
