BBRS thanks Dame Janet Gaymer and Caroline Barr for their roles on the BBRS Board

30 August 2024

The BBRS Board is reducing the number of non executives in the closing phase of the BBRS. Dame Janet Gaymer and Caroline Barr have stepped aside as Non-Executive Directors in line with the principles of good governance, acting in the interests of the company.

Lewis Shand Smith, chair of the BBRS Board said:

‘I want to thank Janet and Caroline for all they have done in their roles as Directors of the BBRS. It has been an honour to have them on the board. They have both been talented and hard-working board members and I am grateful for their expertise in steering the BBRS over the last three and a half years.

As the BBRS winds down, it is appropriate to have a smaller board and so we will not be seeking to replace them.’

Dame Janet Gaymer said:

‘I have very much enjoyed being part of the BBRS which has delivered significantly for the people we were set up to serve. I wish the BBRS well as it closes to new registrations and completes the final cases.’

Caroline Barr said:

‘Inaccurate data built the case for the BBRS, caused unrealistic expectations and the cases expected never materialised. This was despite very significant marketing efforts of the BBRS. For those cases that were eligible the customer satisfaction levels were high which is testament to a well-run process.’
